How it all began…

So an account manager for a technology integrator asked me whether I would be interested in cycling 1000 km’s for charity. To move the subject on quickly I replied “ah yeah, send me the details and i’ll sign up for it”. Well it was one of those false promises that you use to shift the conversation elsewhere without looking like you cannot be bothered – well that was my tactic and it worked.

For the next two years I was asked the same question by the same person and every year I said I was up for it but didn’t – until 2018. Being 50 and slightly overweight I decided to challenge myself and when the link came through I signed up.

Within days my now good friend, the account manager, had secured my place on the team he captained and I was now a newbie for CSA’s Red team on the Camp Quality 1000ks 4 Kids charity bike ride.

Now I need to get a bike…
