Tribute Jersey Day…

Team CSA after completing the hill climb.

No giggles today but I would like you to celebrate life and remember the good times. I spent the day with Legends all wearing the Tribute Jersey with our family on it, an amazing sight which made me smile.

There is no easy way of doing this, so I will remember our family chronologically.

Arthur Leeds 24/11/1914 – 16/06/2003

Great Father-in-Law.  Big man both in stature and personality.  An ex-soldier who fought for his country, got the tattoos, experienced the best and the darker sides of life without judgement.  Became a brickie, married a younger woman and together Arthur and Valerie had four kids.  I am lucky enough to be married to his youngest, and I see a lot of him in Sarah, she doesn’t realise it, but she walks with her hands behind her back the same as Arthur, and so does Ashley.  A gentle giant of a man who is missed by us all, R.I.P Arthur.

William Stevenson 29/04/1922 – 21/12/2007

My Dad and a good man.  Ex Merchant Navy, when he met my Mum, his life changed, but the old sea dog swept her off her feet.  Bill and Betty had five kids, he worked hard and his only vice being golf and the odd celebratory dram.  He always looked on the brighter side of life and made sure we were all happy, which we were.  He looked out for my sisters and made sure his sons were the best they could be.  Head of the family, someone we all looked up to, and we all miss him very much, R.I.P Dad.

William Stevenson 16/09/1951 – 21/11/2014

My Big Bro and a mate.  Bloody good bloke, his family was his world, his personality infectious and knew everyone in Corby.  Won’t forget his donkey Jacket and the shutdowns at the Works, a very real training ground for his son, who made him so proud.  Billy was a good brother, a great dad to his four kids, and if the stories are true, a fantastic granddad.  I am eternally grateful to you, Billy for visiting Mum every day and keeping her going and putting a smile on her face.  Taken too soon by a terrible disease but it couldn’t dampen his outlook on life and the love for his family, R.I.P Badger.

Joseph Leeds 13/02/1960 – 18/10/2017

Fine Brother-in-Law.  Followed Arthurs footsteps and joined the Army, fought for his country and boxed for his regiment, won quite a few tournaments as well.  Bloody good boxer and was an absolute gentleman who provided for his family and he made his Dad very proud.  On leaving the Army, he became part of the community as a PCSO and fitted right in.  Kept a fair few kids on the right side of the law which they will be grateful to Joe for.  Quiet man, did nothing by half and had an air of authority about him and is the reason he did well as a PCSO – a job he loved.  Taken too soon by Cancer and is dearly missed, R.I.P Joe.

Elizabeth Stevenson 10/06/1925 – 04/04/2018

My Mum.  I have nothing but good memories growing up, and your Mum is your MUM. As my brothers would put it ‘Mums spoilt little brat’ and my reply was always ‘it took Mum and Dad five times to get it right by the way’.  However, I was wrong; they got it right five times. I was the youngest of five, and my Mum and Dad truly loved each other.  Mum was never the same when Dad passed, but she soldiered on and passed away peacefully on Wednesday 4th April 2018.  I will be very thankful to my sisters, Heather and Karen who were by her side and made her laugh with the following sketch, whenever I watch it I smile and think of Mum, R.I.P Mum.
